Overview

We went on a UK Cruise around Ireland, Scottish Highland and Islands, Wales and England. The staff and services onboard were fantastic. Accessible taxis at each dock were fantastic.

Transport & Parking

4.5

We arrived via my WAV. Parking at the dock was easy and provided direct access to the ship. We took the free parking package which was so helpful.

Access

4.5

The ship itself had fantastic access and there were plenty of lifts. The only downside was there was only 1 access to the outside deck for powered wheelchairs but manual chairs would easily get over the door lip.

Toilets

4.5

There were various disabled toilets around the ship. Our Cabin was an Accessible one and the bathroom was easy to access with both my manual and powered chairs.

Staff

4.5

The Staff were all extremely friendly. Every evening the head chef would come and discuss my menus for the next day as I have several severe allergies. No matter which Restaurant I used all the staff made me feel very safe.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

All areas were being cleaned several times a day. The staff were happy to comply with whatever you felt safest (eg if you wanted your cabin cleaner would wear a mask while in your cabin). Some passengers were wearing masks while others like ourselves felt safe enough without. It was up to yourself. The only downside was two of the ports Stornoway and Kirkwall were only accessible by Tender so I couldn’t get off the ship. My carer went off (with extra money) and kept me updated via WhatsApp but we knew this before we booked the trip. There was plenty of entertainment onboard to keep me occupied while she was away.

Photos

Our Itinary. Torshavn was changed to Kirkwall due to weather conditions. As you can see we had some beautiful sunsets. This one was taken from our balcony One of our friendly waiters. This is a picture of our accessible balcony. The small ramp made it easy to access. One of the many quiet areas of the ship The chefs made my meals look almost like the normal ones. Everything was beautifully plated and nobody would know that it was gluten, dairy and nut free. It looked as good as my carer’s did. Of course we had to find all 3 of the Costa Cafes that were dotted around the ship. Well the advantage of a large disabled cabin meant that there was plenty of room for the shopping. Also having my WAV at the dock meant it could also easily come home with us.
