Lovely place for a quiet day out. Accessible and had a changing places

We regularly go here. I tend to visit in my big electric wheelchair so I can explore all of the grounds without restriction but I have been in a manual wheelchair before. You can hire all terrain wheelchairs for free. There is disabled parking close to the entrance. Once in you can walk down to the house or take their free shuttle. There is a steep slope down but it’s flat and my wheelchair manages it. There is a bump at the end due to what I assume is cables but they have something down to help you roll over it. Downstairs of the house is fully accessible. Sadly you can’t go upstairs. Staff and volunteers are always lovely. There is a guide available in braille. There is a standard disabled toilet and also a changing places one. Part way around walks there are portaloo’s but you need better mobility to use these. I love their Christmas events. I was going to include a link to a video but don’t know if I can

    Nice place to visit

We decided to spend a day out here. My son has a wheelchair so it was with relief that I found that the entire place was partially wheelchair friendly. We had a great time. The paths are mostly gravel and difficult but the house and views are worth the trouble. The cafe sells lovely tasty delicious scones- everyone who visits Polesden Lacey must try them. The staff are friendly and willing to make the effort to assist you. If you ask politely, they will even give you a accessible map. The site provides information on accessibility. Toilets are clean at least.

A walk in and around the Polesden Lacey estate

Although not allowed in the formal garden as we had our dog with us (and of course we didn't go inside the house), there were extensive good firm footpaths and tracks both within the grounds and beyond. Gates were easily operated ( no stiles or kissing gates, hurrah!). The excellent loo and cafe at Polesden Lacey are accessible with our buying an admission ticket. Walks out of the car park are similarly accessible without paying admission. However the car park is expensive (about £5, or free to NT members) and blue badge holders are not exempt.
