    A warm welcome awaits you at Portland House, a spacious and comfortable guest house offering quality bed and breakfast accommodation in Keswick. Conveniently situated in a quiet area close to the town centre with its wide variety of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants and just a short stroll from Derwentwater and Keswick’s highly acclaimed Theatre by the Lake, this large Victorian town house which was built in the 1880s from traditional Lakeland stone is the perfect base for exploring the Lake District National Park. We have six guest bedrooms located over three floors, with one on the ground floor being suitable for guests with limited mobility. All rooms are spacious and comfortably furnished with en-suite shower rooms, luxury Bath House toiletries, hospitality tray including home-made shortbread, TV, free Wi-Fi and many other features that will confirm our attention to detail in order to provide everything to make your stay with us extra special. For the comfort and safety of all our guests Portland House operates a strict non-smoking policy.

    Disabled in Keswick

    This B&B was a fortunate find as we were looking for accommodation in Keswick that was accessible as my wife is in a wheelchair. We were unable to find anywhere that was truly accessible and also had a roll in shower. We even asked the Tourist Information office. Our room (No1) on the ground floor had a huge comfortable bed and a modern bathroom with a roll in shower. That was all good, but the best part was that Denise and Rod looked after us in every way possible to make our stay happy and comfortable. Our breakfasts were superb. WIFI is good. This is the best B&B we have ever stayed in so Keswick is most fortunate to have this well run and friendly accommodation available.

    There is one step to the front door. We have a portable ramp that we can put in place. Public Areas Our corridors to the ground floor bedroom and breakfast room are 1.3m wide. Corridors have a good colour contrast and are well lit. The flooring on all corridors on the ground floor are short pile carpets. The covering on stairs and upstairs corridors is short pile carpet. The breakfast room and one bedroom are on the ground floor. There are 8 stairs to a landing followed by a further 8 stairs to the first floor bedroom. The stairs are 18cm high, 27cm deep, 90cm wide.
