Overview

Everyone visiting Lerwick should stop here. This FREE yes FREE museum is massive. As with all good stories it starts right at the beginning explaining how Shetland was made, early settlers and then through the ages. There is two floors of artefacts, it really appealed to me as you didn't have to spend too long reading screeds of info, they kept it all short and sweet, and friendly. Great level access through out. You could easily spend half a day here if you read everything. Nice wee restaurant onsite too.

Transport & Parking

We walked from the ferry port - about 15 mins. There was a small carpark to the side of the building.

Access

Nice ramp up to the main door, then everything inside had level access. Two lifts to get you up to the second floor.

Toilets

I didn't use the toilets

Staff

The lady at the front desk couldn't have been nicer, chatted away to me about my day then told me about the museum and where to find lifts etc.
