St Andrews Beach Wheelchairs

I pre-booked their all terrain electric wheelchair for a walk along St Andrews beach with my friend and her dog. The booking process was straightforward through their website and you can book a morning or afternoon 3hrs slot. After some training on how to use it and I questionnaire to help with their funding, I set off along the boardwalk onto the beach. I wasn't convinced it would handle the soft sand (see video) but it just powered through without any difficulties! It's very easy to use with a joystick control and push button speed settings. The chair back can altered, as well as the height of the seat although I had it on the shortest setting and couldn't rest my feet on the footplate fully (I'm 5 ft 3). It wasn't an issue though as I felt fully supported by the seat and had a seat belt. The service is entirely free, but I made a donation to say thank you. Afterwards, we had cake and tea at The Dook which, although wheelchair accessible inside, was very busy with limited space, so we ate outside. They are dog friendly (very dog friendly) and have lots of treat options for them too.

We prebooked a Beach Wheelchair, from the cabin on the West Shore next to The Dooks Cafe on the West Shore. Because of my level of disability I was glad there were strong relations to get me on the seat. I was strapped in and pushed onto the beach, it even coped with the soft sand of the access paths..A great experience.
