This bus station is located just outside the Quadrant Shopping Centre. It has 20 stands with various bus routes operating from them. There is a separate section for coach services where National Express coaches stop. There are four ways to access the station and all have automatic doors and step-free access. Inside, large windows allow a lot of natural light into the building, and the space is also well lit after dark. There is lots of seating available, and each stand is clearly signposted. There are toilets available inside the bus station. However, there is a 30p entry fee and only coins are accepted. There is at least one accessible toilet within this area, and a wider entry gate is available. There is a Changing Places toilet in the mobility hire shop located inside the station but this is only available during the shop’s opening hours. Due to the time I visited and not having any change, I was unable to access any of the accessible toilet facilities available at this station. As well as essential amenities such as the information desk and toilets, the station also had a Costa Coffee, Greggs and a Co-op.
Disabled Access In and Around

There are four entrances to the station: one at each end of the station, one that enters next to the mobility hire shop and one that leads directly into the Quadrant shopping centre. They all have automatic doors and step-free access. The entrance that connects to the shopping centre is only open during the centre’s opening hours. The other entrances are open whenever the bus station is. The entrances at either end of the station had tactile paving leading to them. Inside, the flooring was mainly smooth tiling. There was a colour contrast path throughout the station which provided a walkway to each entrance, bus stand and the toilets. However, the colour contrast tiling had no tactile markers. So, while it provided a colour contrast path throughout the bus station, it didn’t have the additional tactile feature. There was an information desk which had a lowered counter but this wasn’t open when I was there. Online information says it is open Monday-Saturday from 8.30am to 5.30pm. There are some additional accessibility features listed on the Swansea City Council website, such as Braille maps available from the information desk (when open) and the RNIB REACT talking sign system at each departure bay. REACT fobs are available from the information desk for a refundable deposit. There was a large amount of seating available throughout the bus station with most seating options being metal seats with armrests between each seat. There were also a small number of perching benches at some of the departure gates, similar to those found at a bus stop. Each departure gate has automatic sliding doors out to the bus stop and is clearly marked with large letter symbols on a bright red background. There is a digital display at each gate to provide information about the bus services that will be arriving and departing from each gate. The departure gates for coach services were located in a separate area of the station. It was clearly signposted once you got there, but I didn’t see any signage to indicate where these were in the rest of the bus station. This section had automatic sliding doors into the coach passenger lounge, and automatic sliding doors for each departure gate too. All written signage in the station was clearly visible and provided information in both English and Welsh. There were also symbols on some signage where it was suitable, such as for information, toilets and coaches.

There are a wide range of local bus services available from the bus station: 1, 2, 3A, 4, 5, 6, 6A, 7, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 19, 20A, 21, 22, 24, 25, 28, 29, 31, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 49, 51, 52, 84, 92, 111, 116, 118, 119, T6, X1, X5, X6, X7, X11, X13, X13A and X26. National Express provides coach services to Llanelli, Carmarthen, Haverfordwest, London, Birmingham, Cardiff, Bristol, Heathrow Airport, and Gatwick Airport. A taxi rank is available at the south end of the bus station. The station has no parking facilities of its own but there is a large Tesco just next to it which has a large car park. Swansea Railway Station is approximately 1.1 km away from the bus station.

There was an accessible toilet available at this station, however it was behind a paid entry barrier with an entry cost of 30p. The barriers only accepted coins, and I didn’t have any with me. There is a Changing Places toilet available in the mobility hire shop located within the bus station. The opening hours for the mobility shop are different to the bus station, so the Changing Places toilet is only available when the shop is open. I was unable to get into either of these toilets to see what they were like.
