The Scottish Parliament

Was brilliant. I pre-booked on the WelcoMe app to let them know I was coming and the staff were good when I got there from coming to meet me at the security station to making sure I can get around the building and explaining everything to me

I attended a Festival of Politics talk titled "Does transport work for disabled people in Scotland?" at the Scottish Parliament. This is a whirlwind review - I did not experience all of the accessible features available. I visited the Changing Places toilet, one of the accessible loos, the presentation and had a brief look at the foyer. What I did see looked well thought out.

Wheelchair accessibility, hearing loops, and restrooms are all features of the Parliament building's accessible design. Wheelchair-accessible public spaces include galleries and guided tours, and Blue Badge disabled parking is offered. However, because of a lack of assistive technology, discrimination, and limited resources, it can lead to negative experiences and make it difficult for people with disabilities to participate in a range of events.
