Venue Description

The Scottish Parliament at Holyrood is the home of Scottish democracy. We are open throughout the year and offer the opportunity to watch Parliamentary business taking place, and on certain days there are free guided tours and talks. We also have an exhibition, a café and gift shop.

Accessibility

Visitors enter from the public entrance on Horse Wynd. The entrance is level with the street and signposted. The main door is automatic. Once inside you will be asked to pass through an airport-style security check. When you come into the building you can view the exhibition in the Main Hall, visit the café, shop or join a tour - depending on which day you visit. You can take the lift or stairs to Level 2 to visit the public gallery of the Debating Chamber. On business days you need to get a ticket from the Visitor Information Desk to visit the gallery.

We are a 5-star visitor attraction, accredited by Visit Scotland's Scottish Tourist Board

Toilets

Accessible toilet facilities are provided throughout the building. Staff will advise visitors of the nearest available facilities.

Staff

We have some BSL trained staff and all front of house staff have received some form of training on meeting the needs of disabled visitors to the building. Staff have attended a variety of courses to ensure that we provide an excellent service to all our visitors. These include Autism Awareness, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Awareness and Communicating Effectively with Blind and Visually Impaired Visitors courses.
