Outdoors - Chapter 4

Fantastic pub, good facilities and access - car park issues

3.5

Visit date:

This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Walking Aid, Wheelchair

Overview

The pub is wheelchair accessible and has an accessible loo. Inside access is good. Just the car park let's it down from the point of view of disabled access - shingle surface makes walking or wheelchair difficult plus there are no blue badge spaces. Great pub though despite this.

Transport & Parking

3

Not sure how close the bus gets though the pub is in the main part of Brighstone. There are a few parking spaces at the front but the main car park is at the rear (behind that there's also a free public car park). There are no designated blue badge spaces that we could see. The main car park is pea shingle which is a nightmare to walk on with any sort of walking aid and my wheelchair had to be towed backwards by my carer. It was all a bit difficult really. Then there's a lengthy (but by comparison easy) push up the gently ramped patio to the entrance.

Access

4

There were no steps and once on the patio, it was an easy push to the rear entrance. No idea what the front door was like. Inside floors were smoothe and there was plenty of room to manoeuvre a wheelchair and to store it whilst I had lunch. We booked thinking it would be busy but there was plenty of room.

Toilets

The loo was smart and well equipped. It was easily visible from the main bar area, with a clear sign on the door. The alarm cord was sadly part-tied up otherwise it would have been five stars. Plenty of room to turn a chair inside. Radar key operated but pub had their own key.

Staff

2.5

No interaction with any staff when we visited but when we phoned to ask about facilities, they were really helpful. Oh and dogs welcome too!

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Lovely atmosphere, fantastic food. Would visit here again.
