Overall Rating
Excellent
Excellent location on south bank of Loch Faskally, at the top of Pitlochry town. We had the only, fully accessible room (61), but several other guests with wheelchairs or rollators seemed to cope in other ground floor rooms. The hotel has four mobility scooters for guests to use around the hotel grounds or "down the hill" into Pitlochry. But we'd taken my eFOLDi and used that instead to visit House of Bruar, Blair Castle grounds and Pitlochry for lunch at the Fern Cottage restaurant. Hotel staff couldn't have been more helpful and it's obvious many guests keep coming back for more.
Disabled Access In and Around
Good
Room 61, the fully accessible room, in the Tower Wing is furthest from the restaurant, but I was able to walk there and back for breakfasts and dinner using two walking sticks. Good exercise for me. Other guests used rollators or wheelchairs if necessary.
Accessible facilities: Lift to some areas, Step-free entrance, Seating at regular intervals, Step-free access to most areas
Parking & Transport
Good
I travelled to this place by personal vehicle
Free parking, and we used one of the three spaces next to our room and entry door. Maybe only one dedicated "blue badge" space in front of the hotel, but it's not a big hotel and there are lots of parking spaces within the hotel grounds.
Accessible facilities: Drop-off or pick up point, Dedicated on-site parking
Accessible Toilets
I used the toilet in our room. The bathroom was quite large, but with lots of hand rails. Nevertheless I found it easier to use my rollator as the bathroom area was so large, shower at one end, low bath in the middle and WC at the other end.
Facilities: Accessible toilet
Staff
Excellent
We were given a table just inside the restaurant (third table in, we could have had two nearer tables) for the duration of our stay. Other guests had choice of either their same table or best available, with tables looking out onto the loch the most popular.
