    Enjoyable stay but needs improvement

My first time staying at a Travelodge in Edinburgh and was pleasantly surprised despite a few areas that needed improvement. The hotel itself is well-furnished and clean, I was informed by the staff at the desk that it had recently undergone refurbishment which I must say they did a great job (at least in the common areas). I had booked an accessible room which was very spacious however it did feel quite dreary and depressing due to the fact it was on the lower ground floor and the windows were quite dirty and do not open. Along side this, the radiator was left on when I entered the room which I swiftly turned off as the room was boiling (and also very sunny and warm outside too!) The beds were two singles as I was travelling with my parent. They were okay but could definitely be improved. The mattress felt as though it was drooping to one side and the pillows were lumpy. But considering it was somewhere to lay our heads for the night, it was acceptable. In the room was a small TV on the wall, which in an accessible room it would be nice if there was a way to adjust the height of this? Maybe place it on an adjustable stand or bracket? There was also no TV remote provided for it. The accessible bathroom was lovely. No complaints there. Very happy with it! The room overall was good for the price and fit our needs. Sadly due to the uncomfortable beds I wouldn't stay again but perhaps I would try one of the other Travelodge's in town that has the new Super rooms.

UPDATE Disappointing NO Accessible room available and moved to another hotel

This is my third review for the hotel. It has now become my go to place to stay when I am in Edinburgh. On my recent visit to Scotland I had stayed in this Travelodge on 14 - 16 April 2024, then had 3 nights on a coach tour, and was booked to stay in an accessible room on 18 April 2024, for one night when I arrived back from my coach tour. I had told the staff on duty during my stay that I would be returning on the Friday night. I was therefore shocked to arrive on the Friday at about 6.40pm to be informed that they had no accessible room for me as the building was being refurbished. Please see comments about staff below to see how this was handled. But the quick answer was I had to stay at another hotel. I've had a reply from Travelodge and I have put it in the Additional information section if anyone want to read it.

    Another Great Stay

This was my second visit to this Travelodge on Waterloo Place and it was another excellent and accessible stay. I previously did a EG review in 2023, so please refer to that as it has more photos and information, as this is just an update. During my stay in April 2024, the hotel was in the process of being refurbished. This did not impact on my stay.
