We are the Yorkshire Air Museum and Allied Air Forces Memorial, one of the largest independent museums of aviation in the United Kingdom. A registered charity, we sit on the former site of RAF Elvington in North Yorkshire, a World War II airfield used extensively by Allied bomber crews. We have over 60 exhibits, ranging from replicas of the first fliers to modern jets. We also have 'Friday the 13th' the only Handley Page Halifax MkIII in the UK. There are also exhibitions and displays ranging from the role of Bomber Command to the Cold War, and a small cinema. We have an on site café, free parking and meeting and conference facilities. The site is mostly accessible, with the exception of the first floor of the Control Tower (currently closed to renovations).
