    The Beatles Statue Albert Dock

Welcome to the April Review Round-Up. We’ve got a lovely mix of reviews for you this month from great places to enjoy a meal with friends and family to holiday destinations at home and abroad, sure to get you in the mood for summer!

If you have somewhere you’d like to share with our community, why not write a review and let others know about your experience so they know what to expect?

    Places to visit

Ciaran Kiely visited the TwistMuseum in London and found it easy to move around, with a large accessible toilet that offered plenty of space. Thank you, Ciaran. We're so glad you had a great visit.

Chrisclack7401 spent the day at Bolton Museum while attending a study event and enjoyed exploring the exhibits. There is lift access to all levels, the staff are very helpful, and the accessible toilet is available with a RADAR key. Thank you, for sharing your experience and for helping others.

Our Review Coordinator MrsMollyC has been visiting Liverpool and stopped by The Beatles Statue near the Albert Dock. Molly recommends going in the evening when it’s quieter and the lighting makes for even better photos. Thank you for your review, Molly — we look forward to hearing more about your travels soon.

    Places to eat

Zola2010 highly recommends The Black Bull Pub in Gartmore near Stirling for a family meal. They phoned ahead to share their access requirements, and the staff were ready to help. The pub has a concrete ramp, an accessible door designed to stay open, and an accessible parking bay on the street outside. Thank you, Zola2010, for sharing such a positive experience.

JuliaPeculiar reviewed The Olive Tree, a Greek-style restaurant in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire. Although it may not look accessible at first glance, the staff’s friendly attitude and willingness to help made all the difference. In her review, Julia notes how the accessible entrance is at the back with a doorbell to alert staff, that the tables are a good height for wheelchair users, and there is an accessible toilet. It’s always reassuring to hear how staff understanding and helpful approach can transform a visit.

Cuilean73 enjoyed a fantastic evening at The Snow Goose Pub in Inverness while staying nearby. They praised the food, atmosphere, and especially the staff’s disability awareness, which made the visit even more enjoyable. Thank you, Cuilean73, for sharing your experience and helping others feel confident about trying somewhere new.

    Holidays and mobility equipment

LauraCrielly, Tech Development Manager at Euan’s Guide, shared her experience of visiting El Nacional Food Hall in Barcelona. The venue offers a wide range of restaurants to suit everyone’s taste. Laura highlighted the great atmosphere, the variety of food, the ramped access, and the accessible toilet. It’s brilliant to hear about accessible places both at home and abroad. Thanks, Laura, for your fantastic review.

Cobwebfourmoth9765 reviewed Highland Mobility Scooter Hire after renting a scooter for their husband while holidaying in the Cairngorms. Thanks to the scooter — and the helpful staff who delivered it and answered all their questions — they were able to enjoy Aviemore and the Cairngorms again following a Motor Neurone Disease (MND) diagnosis. We’re so pleased to hear you had a successful and enjoyable trip.

    Review of the Month

This month’s Review of the Month goes to JuliaPeculiar for their very informative review of The Olive Tree restaurant. Their experience shows that even when a venue doesn’t appear accessible at first, staff attitudes and a willingness to help have a really positive effect. Seemingly small changes — and a friendly approach — can have the biggest impact, making visits more enjoyable for disabled people, their families, and their friends. Thank you, Julia, for sharing your review with the community. We can’t wait to see where you go next.
