Great for independent or minimal support wheelchair users

We booked our stay almost a year ago and were pleasantly surprised! As an ambulatory wheelchair user in an accessible room, I found the facilities fantastic. Check-in was smooth; the desk is high, but staff thoughtfully provided a clipboard to sign paperwork. Our ground-floor room (Room 18) was clean and spacious enough to park and charge my wheelchair overnight while still moving comfortably. The bathroom featured a roll-in shower with a seat, a red pull cord, and a left-side drop-down transfer rail by the toilet. Note: the bed is standard hotel height with no pull cord or bedside sockets (ample sockets exist opposite the bed, which was fine for us). They also provide a vibrating under-pillow emergency alarm. Spa access was great. I rode to the changing room—which has a fully accessible roll-in shower/seat and toilet with rails—and used my walking stick to reach the pool. However, please note there are no transfer aids or hoists for the pool or hot tub. The food was fantastic! Any minor issues were rectified quickly, professionally, and apologetically. The staff were incredibly attentive and considerate throughout our visit. We had a truly wonderful stay and will definitely be returning next year!

Disabled Travellers very nice hotel visit

SET SAT NAV. GL3 4PS. Gloucester. Just a 30 minute drive from Gloucester, this is a very nice and comfortable hotel to enjoy a light meal or drinks, in pleasant surroundings, with delightful garden settings. The entry into driveway was appealing (photo 1) with disabled bays right by hotels main entrance (photo 2) with level approaches and automatic sliding doors (photo 3) It has a practical large reception desk (photo 4) maned continually by capable staff. A lift is conveniently positioned, good size, and spotlessly clean (photo 5) standing close to the very pleasant and well stocked bar (photo 6) with lots of modern comfortable seating areas (photo 7) which served a decent cup of coffee (photo 8). Carpeting and upholstery are well maintained (photo 9) and a pleasant attractive modern restaurant is available for the evenings (photo 10) anf if not needed, the wheelchair can be placed close to restaurant reception (photo 11) and most seats have garden views (photo 12) Wide, well maintained paths (photo 13) with many wooden and nice looking seats are placed around the garden areas (photo 14) with many evening events being held here. They have disabled toilets (photo 15) which are spotlessly clean, well looked after, spacious with modern facilities, room to move chair around and reach sinks and other vital items (photo 16) A seperate Spa and leisure centre is on hand close to reception, clean spacious, so wheelchairs can move comfortably (photo 17) although you will not be able to get to first floor facilities without using the lift (photo 18), but it’s easy enough to reach the large attractive swimming pool (photo 19) and steam rooms (photo 20) OUR FINAL THOUGHTS We both liked this very nice hotel, certainly appealing when you got in, warm, attractive deco, plenty of seating areas, comfortable and relaxing. Garden areas are well maintained, looks as if plenty of seating out there. We would certainly recommend this hotel to disabled.

Hope they've fulfilled the promise of change!

Such a lovely hotel, helpful staff (mostly), ok food in the restaurant BUT a failure to respond to the alarm after pulling the red emergency cord when I fell in the bathroom at approx 3am. I was exhausted having had no sleep because of a 'deaf responder' alarm that I'd never come across before. This had been set by a previous occupant, I assume, to go off at regular intervals that night. After trying to turn this off myself pushing the tiny buttons on the alarm, I called reception for a member of the maintenance staff to fix it. This wasn't done and thug-like (!) I removed it from the wall and handed it to the guy on reception. NOT a comfortable first night - I wouldn't recommend a disabled person to stay at this hotel, unless changes to health and safety measures have been made!
