A comfortable couple of hours at the airport

Knowing that our flight was in the evening, we booked the lounge at Edinburgh Airport using the app get your guide and we got it for £32 each. Upon entering the lounge which is wheelchair accessible via a lift from the main departure area. You scanned the QR code with your booking and scan your boarding pass and then enter the lounge. The lounge has a lot of areas to either sit down and relax or to eat at a proper table. We chose an area that was in between the restaurant Tables and the lounge tables as the facility was quite busy. In the lounge beer and wine are complimentary however spirits has an extra charge. The food on order was quite poor considering the cost to enter the facility. I believe it was a chilli and rice, if curry with rice, and some severely overcooked macaroni. There was a bowl of tortilla chips and some tongues. I booked this lounge after reading reviews of the two lounges and them saying this one was better than the one next-door…….. After a couple of hours, we left the lounge after using the facilities safe in the knowledge that we will not book this particular lounge again.

    Absolutely fantastic first flight experience

I flew from Edinburgh to Dublin on Friday 25 July 2025. It was really a test flight to see how everything worked. This was my first flight for 11 years and my first with a folding powerchair. We flew in and out of Dublin on the same day. I checked in with Passenger Assistance and said we'd meet someone at the gate to help me on the plane. Although we had checked in online, I had to check my wheelchair in to get it tagged. Someone came to get me at the gate. I stayed in my powerchair right up until I was in the ambilift, when I transferred into an aisle chair. They took me right to my seat on the plane. When we arrived in Dublin there was someone waiting to help me off and my wheelchair was there too. On the return journey things were the same. We booked our flight with Ryanair, told them I was flying with a wheelchair, they emailed a form, asking for details of the chair and they did everything. I didn't have to contact anyone else. I was really nervous and this experience left me feeling confident to fly again.

    Planes, Trams and Automobiles

I embarked upon an Edinburgh Odyssey recently, for the purpose of gaining first-hand experience of travel networks within the city. I took a tram from Haymarket to the airport, a journey of less than 30 minutes, which proved an easy task for this manual wheelchair user. The airport is vast, though I found the Special Assistance area rather cramped. With a multitude of transport routes, it's exceptionally easy to get to, but how is it when you're there?
