About

We have 4 parts to John Charles; A sports stadium, a tennis centre, an indoors bowls and athletics centre and an Aquatics centre. All our buildings are accessible:

* The stadium has adapted bikes which can be ridden around the track.

* The bodyline gym has adapted equipment including ergometer bike, adapted rower and dual assisted pulley machine.

* The gym is accessed via a lift as are viewing areas on the upper floors.

* The tennis centre hosts wheelchair tennis and can provide wheelchair loan and wheelchair tennis coaching.

* The outdoor courts are step free. Football pitches are also step free.

* The indoor bowls green is wheelchair accessible as is the bar area.

* The indoor athletics hall is accessible and can be used for adapted table tennis and other games.

* The aquatics centre has a series of pools and also diving facilities.

* The pool has a hoist.

* This facility has 2 changing places toilets with showers.

* All buildings have accessible toilets and parking.

Disabled Access Information Provided by John Charles Centre for Sport

Disabled Access at John Charles Centre for Sport

All buildings have level access and automatic doors. They meet the requirement of Part M of the building regulations and also provide accessible toilets. The facilities are used for disability sports and wellbeing activities by special schools and adult social care providers during the week and so we are constantly listening to our users and their feedback. We are also a base for many clubs such as Leeds City athletics club which includes wheelchair athletics. We hold disability swimming sessions on Mondays and Fridays. Our tennis centre also hosts visually impaired tennis and learning disability tennis.

We have a shared blue badge car park of 33 spaces outside the stadium and more spaces outside the indoor athletics centre.

We have 2 changing places toilets in the Aquatics centre. All other buildings have accessible toilets and changing facilities.

Changing Places toilet

There is a Changing Places toilet, which includes an adult-size changing bench, toilet, sink and hoist.

Accessible toilet

A designated accessible toilet designed for wheelchair users and others with visible and non-visible accessibility requirements is available within the main public areas.
