Great support at the Riverhouse Barn, Walton
I recently watched a play with my Husband at Riverhouse Barn. The staff there made our visit so easy and pleasant. The venue is very accessible. I mentioned my access needs in an email to them, although I believe I can also add this information when booking tickets.
The first surprise was to find my name on a disabled parking space just by the rear entrance making access incredibly easy.
The people around were helpful and friendly and held the door for us. We were approached by the staff soon after arriving who asked whether I needed any help. When they found who I was they confirmed that an armchair had been placed in the front row for me as requested. Later they came along and asked if I wanted to go into the auditorium ahead of the main audience which made access safe and easy. They also came and checked everything was OK during the interval and told us how to get around in the easiest ways.
There is an excellent disabled loo just by the bar area.
The public spaces outside the auditorium are quite small, but I managed OK. It was great to have a disabled space reserved, however the yellow lines are quite feint and the disabled parking space is cluttered, so it would have been a little difficult if we had come unannounced.
We hope to make this a regular venue.
