Good

This station is set alongside some busy roads. The platforms can only be accessed via a footbridge which connects to the roads on either side of the station. There is a lift on either side of the footbridge, at each entrance, and another lift in the centre to get to the platforms. There are also staircases with grab rails. The platforms have seating and canopies overhead, there are tactile markings at the edge of the platform and there are help points to call for assistance or notify of any emergencies. The platforms are joined together in the centre of two separate train tracks that are on either side of the central platforms. The DLR trains stop level with the platform with a very minimal gap between the train and the platform. The newer DLR trains provide slightly better access and have better signage to indicate the best boarding places for those in wheelchairs or with prams.

Disabled Access In and Around

There are two entrances to this station and each one has clear sign in the teal colour that identifies the DLR line. There are stairs with grab rails up to the footbridge and lifts with tactile buttons. Once on the footbridge there is then another staircase and lift in the centre that travels down to the platforms. The platforms are connected and have train tracks on either side. The platforms have tactile markings and a painted yellow line at the edge of the platform to indicate where it is. There is seating available along each platform which have backrests and armrests between each seat but not on either end. A large part of the platforms are covered with a canopy but there is a section that is uncovered. There is a help point on either platform which provides access to alert of any emergencies or speak to staff. The help points are tall white stands with Emergency point posted at the top. On the left are some red panels which include a red door which has an emergency train stop control inside. On the right there is a red panel on top which has a fire alarm and below it is a green panel with a large circular button and this connects you to a member of staff. The trains stop level with the platforms and there is only a small gap between the train and the platform at this station. The newer DLR trains have large blue stickers on some of the doors which indicate the best boarding points for those in wheelchairs or with prams. These boarding points bring you onto the train next to the wheelchair spaces. The wheelchair spaces are better laid out on the newer DLR trains as the older version have quite narrow passages to get to the space itself. The buttons to open the doors are also lower down on the newer trains and therefore easier to reach for someone at a lower level.

This stop provides access to DLR services travelling northbound to Stratford International, and southbound to Woolwich Arsenal. The roads around this station are busy roads with no parking available.

Good

The station itself is unmanned but there is always a member of staff on each DLR train. The help points on the platform also provide a way of communicating with staff.
