The Open Arms Hotel

This is the second visit. First made in November 2017. My impression is that this venue has upped its game. A good example of fine dining let down only by the gravel drive to the enterance. Not great for wheelchairs. Slight step up to the enterance door and we were lucky that there was a diner just leaving who opened the doors for us. However once we were in we were met by a member of staff who showed us to our table. This had a basket of bread with butter and a jug of ice water and glasses on the table. A nice touch. A waitress came immediatley with the menu and took our drinks orders. The menu was wide raging and would have something for everyone. It was hard for me to make a choice which is quite unusual for me. The service was attentive and the meals were served quickly after the choice was made. I was pleased to see that the waitress noticed when i was finished and asked if we would like a break before dessert or would she bring the menu straight away. Its very important to book ahead as the restuarant was busy.

A group of four wheelchair users and four carers booked but the message had not got through as it was originally booked for just myself. However, they coped extremely well and found a big table in a separate room for us. The service was very good with our orders taken promptly. The menu was excellent as befits a 3* hotel. Good value for money, with the exception of the beer price - £4.50 for a pint!
