Good
Yellowcraig has always been one of those places I heard people speak about so I decided to go and find it. I didn't have high hopes that I'd see much as a wheelchair user but I was to be proved wrong.
Disabled Access In and Around
Good
Leaving the car, it was easy to wheel across to the toilet and then onto the patio style area and work out the best way to go. The approach to the beach was along a track which has a hard but stoney surface. I managed to wheel along this albeit with some amount of care and caution. Powerchair users and scooter owners would probably fair better than I did in my manual wheelchair. The path passes across the dune like area and you get some good views and a great sense of being miles from nowhere. If you are looking for peace and tranquillity then this is a good spot. After a couple of hundred metres or so the path heads down toward the beach and isn't accessible. That said the Council had created a rather good accessible viewing platform which you can wheel onto and safely sit without fear of rolling off. It was a lovely spot for the coffee that we had packed and an opportunity to take a photo or two. The views out towardvthe sea were great as the sun was shining and the weather warm and kind. The are several other paths, mainly grass like, that you could explore albeit you'd have to be up for some rough terrain. We were happy to sit soaking up the sun on the accessible viewing platform!
Parking & Transport

Following the brown tourism signs a winding lane left the tranquil village of Dirleton and headed out through the farmland an on toward a forest area. Sweeping into the main car park I was starting to get a bit nervous as the surface wasn't the finest I'd ever seen. Then, some large Blue Badge parking signs came into view and a line of blue badge spaces on a tarmac surface beckoned. The accessible parking was spacious and well marked out with a gap in the car park's low level fencing to allow you to wheel into the toilet block and services area.
Accessible Toilets
Good
Adjacent to the car park was a toilet building. With one accessible loo that was of a good size and quality. It was perfectly adequate albeit it was busy as every one was using it.
