Edinburgh Waverley Railway StationWaverley Bridge, Edinburgh, EH1 1BB, United Kingdom
Edinburgh Waverley Station is the most well known and used train station in Edinburgh. It has frequent trains in all directions. The platforms are spread out so it is worth arriving with plenty of time to find out and get to where you need to go. It was quite quiet when I visited (a Sunday in July 2020) because of Covid-19.
Transport & Parking
I tend to walk or get the bus to the station. Plenty of busses stop nearby on Princes Street or North Bridge. The airport bus leaves just outside the station on Waverley Bridge. Their are usually Taxis parked on Waverley Bridge or just off Carlton Road, which is also where you'll find the accessible drop off point. The nearest tram stop is at St Andrew Square. There is a car park but I have never used it.
Lots of lifts, stairs and elevators to the main area and other platforms. It can be quite confusing and signage isn't great. Once you are more familiar with the layout it is fairly easy to navigate. The seats are still available in the waiting area but benches have been removed from the main area (for Covid-19).
Didn't try to visit.
Didn't interact with any staff during my last visit but have always found them helpful. I did find it frustrating that the staff member giving out masks kept taking his mask off!
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Stickers on floor to encourage social distancing. Mask wearing encourage, there were tables with staff members giving out free masks. Hand sanitiser was also readily available. Quite a few shops were closed, including boots and M&S. Sainsburys in Waverley Mall was also closed.
