The Hog's Head Inn

This was our first few days away since my husband lost the use of his legs 18 months ago. We were very apprehensive as to what facilities would be like. Seems sometimes hotel say they have accessible rooms then when you question them you find out it’s not true. I am pleased to say the bedroom and wet room were brilliant! Plenty of room to move about in a power chair and a well laid out wet room. Spotlessly clean and the staff seemed very friendly. We had eaten when we arrived so didn’t get to try the food and we didn’t get off our room early enough to sample the breakfast which they stopped serving at 9.30am. Massive car park. The Hogs Head is part of a group (Inncollectiongroup.com) with hotels across Northumberland and we found the central reservations people were very knowledgable as to which of their hotels would be suitable for us. We will definitely stay there again.

The only possible way to visit friends near Alnwick was to find fully accessible accommodation for myself and my husband who uses a wheelchair. The Hogshead seemed to cover most of our needs.

Literally just off the A1, this Pub/Hotel is very new and welcoming. Apart from quite a long walk from the very large car park to the entrance, which can be quite cold and wet in those parts, this is a very pleasant hotel which is also a very popular Pub / Restaurant with the locals. Good sized accessible rooms with large bath room with walk / roll in shower. Good quality, excellent value food and nice bar with good selection of wines and beers. Very friendly and helpful staff. It is also 'pet friendly'.
